Bev Green: A participant's guide to gym success

When presenting Bev with her new Samsung LCD TV, our marketing manager Julie Meyer took the opportunity to get some insight on Bev's experience at the Millennium Gym.

18 months ago if you told Beverley Green that the gym was going to become her second home, most likely she would have laughed at you.

But catch up with Bev today and you'll discover she's at the Millennium Gym  4-5 times each week, working out regularly with fellow members who have become some of her closest friends. And how does Bev explain the transformation? She puts it down to being motivated by others in a friendly environment.

47 year old Bev joined Millennium just over a year ago after the unhappy discovery that her swimsuit was getting too small. Her initial intention was to maintain her weight while getting fit so she could still enjoy her favourite food and the odd glass of wine, but during the Face 2 Face gym introduction programme (approximately 30 days) Bev dropped a dress size - in her own words she was "absolutely rapt!"

It wasn't all roses though. Bev made the decision to come to the gym first thing in the morning (5.30am) because she knew she wouldn't come otherwise. For the first 4-5 weeks it was difficult getting up at 5am, but since then it's become a part of her lifestyle. These days Bev knows that if she doesn't come her gym friends Chris and Marilyn will send texts demanding explanation for her absence, and she'll do the same for them.

Just over a year ago Bev was wearing size 16-18 clothes, and now she proudly announces that she has recently bought a pair of size 12 jeans! She openly admits that although her weight has not changed considerably, she has lost centimetres everywhere. Bev's 24 year old son Simon, who also attends the Millennium Gym, has had a similar experience - he's dropped 3 shirt sizes since joining in September last year.

To top it all off, Bev heard about the Customer Services Manager role advertised here at Millennium and successfully applied for the job. As a result you will be seeing more of Bev Green as she encourages you on the way to the gym. Make sure to stop by and say hi!
